Letter to our patients regarding Waterboro Dentistry’s Delta Dental participation

Dr Valerie recently greeted a four year old during his dental visit. As she approached the young patient (who was expecting to see Dr Wayne) the boy exclaimed “You’re not the funny man”, to which Dr Valerie smiled and responded “I’m the funny man’s daughter”. After Dr Valerie’s exam the young patient had a new favorite dentist.

Waterboro Dentistry will celebrate its 41st birthday this year. The good news is that Dr Wayne continues to be passionate about dentistry and working with his daughter Dr Valerie. Dr Wayne is working towards retirement on a reduced schedule and our patients consistently add Dr Valerie to their favorite dentist list.

To our patients who carry dental insurance through Delta Dental, Dr Wayne’s reduced schedule required a change in his status with Delta Dental. Dr Wayne will now serve our Delta patients as an “out of network” provider and Dr Valerie’s Delta status will change to Delta Premier as of September 1, 2023.

What does this mean for our Delta Dental Patients? Payment schedules for the hundreds of policies sold by Delta Dental are neither transparent nor consistent. Audrey is the office insurance policy analyst and is a consummate expert at helping our patients maximize their dental insurance benefits. We anticipate that many of Dr Valerie’s and Dr Wayne’s patients covered by Delta Dental will experience no change in their dental co-payments, however, some may experience a change. Our office will continue to bill your insurance carrier as always and Delta will determine your new co-payment. Consistent with our traditional office policy we will do our best to calculate your “estimated” out of pocket expense for your scheduled dental appointments and you will be responsible for your out-of-pocket cost. We are committed to working through the process with you.

With Gratitude To Be of Service to You,

The staff of Waterboro Dentistry
